Reviews Summary for HAMKITT TM-V7A DISPLAY MOD & FIX
HAMKITT TM-V7A DISPLAY MOD & FIX Reviews: 15 Average rating: 4.9/5 MSRP: $$34.95
Description: I have developed a very successful modification to the troubled Kenwood TM-V7A. This Mod allows that blurry & dimming blue dispaly to pop out to be Nice and bright and three toned for better overall contrast.. This Modification wont take away all of the dreaded lcd lines that comes from aging lcd/ic' in the radio giving out.. But if your radio has been dimming and is hard to read in daylight or just a pain... This modification will fix the radios display better than
when it left Kenwood the day it was brand new...

THIS KIT INCLUDES ALL THE PARTS YOU NEED
TO FIX YOUR TM-V7A DISPLAY!!!
Product is in production.

Makes TM-V7A Display Readable!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
HAMKITT's LED replacement kit has made it possible to use our two TM-V7As in direct sunshine again. Yep, a little pricey BUT you're paying for the work that went into developing the fix and putting together a great set of instructions. If you have more than one rig to do it's only an additional $5 for the extra LEDs.

The mod will unfortunately not cure the infamous "LCD lines problems" but boy what a difference in readability of the display.

And Joe is a great guy to work with as well!

Fixing an existing rig could save you from having to replace your radio by making it usable once again.

Made my rig usable in bright sunshine!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Joe has figured out how to revive the TM-V7A display. In bright sunlight the display was just not readable; it is now! I have modified both of our rigs and am pleased with the results. Yep, a little pricey but what you're paying for is the research and work that went into developing the instruction set which is superb - I don't have any heartburn at all in light (no pun intended!) of the results. If you have more than one rig to fix it's only $5 more for another set of LEDs. Joe's kit will add years to the life of your TM-V7A if you're not ready to purchase a new rig.

Plus, Joe is a great guy to work with...a real gentleman.

Works as advertised.  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
The kit came quickly and had easy to follow step by step instructions with color photos. Total time to implement it was a bit over an hour.

The TM-V7A display is now bright and readable in both the normal and inverse modes.

$35 does seem a bit pricey for 5 LEDs, a bit of solder, solder wick, and ten pages of paper, but it did save the cost of replacing a $350 radio.

Kit revitalized display as promised! Am very happy with results  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
The Kenwood TM-V7A, for which I ordered the HAMKITT, belongs to a sight challenged amateur who could not see the failed (became very dim) Kenwood display at all. This mod kit from HAMKITT worked just as advertised and the radio's display has been revitalized. It is very much brighter than before and my ham buddy can now see the display again! Thanks Joe, for the fast delivery and for after-market assitance. I would recommend this poroduct to anyone with a TM-V7A that has had it's display go dim. Al VE3DMR
