Reviews Summary for Maxpedition 4\" Clip on Holster
Maxpedition 4\ Reviews: 1 Average rating: 5.0/5 MSRP: $14.57
Description: I use this for a more robust holster for the Yaesu FT-8DR HT.
-------------------
Web site description:
Great for Razr phone, iPod and anything 4" or less in height. For fit, simply measure the height of your device (excluding antenna). If it's 4" or less, this is the holster for you. Variations in width and thickness are accommodated by elastic retention. Comes with our heavy duty spring steel clip pre-installed for quick and secure attachment to duty/rigger's belt, pants belt, waistband, pocket seam, backpack strap, etc. Clip can be removed and 3" TacTie™ installed for MOLLE compatibility.
Product is not in production.

Great alternative for wearing the Yaesu VT-8 family of radios  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I was not too impressed with the Yaesu offering for a protector/holster for the VX-8DR and elected to not purchase one. Given the fairly high price of this HT I felt that it needed a better holster if it is to be worn on a daily basis.

Having been involved in public safety for around 15 years I know the kind of beating that a HT can take with daily usage. This product is of nylon construction and would fit in fine with MOLLE gear. The elastic grips the radio firmly and it will not fall out when tipped over, even if the nylon strap is not in place.

It is a snug fit, even with the high capacity battery. I did remove the standard battery clip as it was too snug to comfortably latch the nylon strap across the top of the radio.

In the holster you can still access the PTT and MON side buttons, read the first two lines of the display and with a bit of juggling, attach a charger to the other side of the radio. The rotary knob is not obstructed even with the strap across the top. If you are using the GPS, speaker/mic or programming cable you will need to leave the top strap unfastened.

While in the holster the received audio is still clear but the built in microphone will sound muffled.

The metal belt snap is heavy duty and would easily accommodate web-gear, a regular belt or just by hooking it to your pants.
