perfect for travel, but ...  Time owned: more than 12 months
... this key is SO nice, I don't want to take it on a trip for fear of getting it dirty! I have it in my shack in a prominent position. Wonderful feel, precision British craftsmanship, good looking black & brass key.

Art and science have truly met at the hands of G4ZPY. I hope he is feeling OK these days; I'm told his health is poor.

The best miniature paddles money can buy  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
If any of you have ever drooled over Raquel Welch
in "Fantastic Voyage", you will appreciate the
G4ZPY Model 56 Miniature Paddles. For those of
you who are too young to remember the movie,
rent it. You'll enjoy it. These paddles are
clearly the result of someone carefully,
meticulously machining a set of precision iambic
paddles, then shrinking them down to about half
their normal size. When you first see them, the
reaction is generally the same as that reserved
for newborn babies: "Isn't he cute?" or
"Awwwwwwww" come to mind. After you connect the
solid brass posts to your favorite transmitter
(minitiarized or not), you will discover rather
quickly that this device is not just some flimsy
toy. They are well machined, precision paddles;
they're just dimensionally challenged, as the
Politically Correct would say. They're tiny.

I have teamed mine up with an Elecraft K1 QRP
CW transceiver. It seemed only appropriate to
pair the best available QRP CW rig with the
best in portable paddles...Two thumbs up to
Gordon, G4ZPY (three if I had them)!

Works in the cold  Time owned: more than 12 months
I used the G4ZPY minature keyer for 13 months whilst on Macquarie Island as VK0MM. What I wanted was a reliable keyer that was also light & compact, so that I could easily carry it in a rucksack whilst out in the field, away from the research station. It is extremely well engineered and easy to adjust. I had no problems with it whatsoever. It's also very nice to look at. G4ZPY will also engrave your callsign on it for a nominal extra fee.

Backpacking Key - good!  Time owned: more than 12 months
I had the first one G4ZPY sold of these keys (lots of years ago now). I still have it and it gets a lot of use. I have taken it on backpacking trips all over the place and it has performed well.

The only weak points are:
- no cable strain relief for the connections
- perhaps a little heavy due to the magnetic base
- costly

ZPY told me that if anyone wanted, he could make the key with a lightweight base.

Five Stars!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
The G4ZPY quality is evident from the moment you look at this key; the key is a work of art, even down to the engraved call letters. The key is small and perfectly sized for qrp/in the field operating. But mine has found a home in the shack as well! Sending with the key is effortless and exact. The feel is superb with excellent adjustable tension; I heartily endorse the G4ZPY Model 56 key to those who enjoy CW!
