Very useful, a bit quirky!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I received this keypad for my birthday from my XYL. She knows that one of my main interests is Broadcast Band listening, and this product has transformed my FT-897 for that purpose. Suddenly I can zip from one frequency to another in seconds. The operation takes a bit of getting used to, for example you have to enter leading zeros (eg. 09.410 Mhz), but once you get your head round that it becomes second-nature. It also has a useful 'tune up' feature which sends a steady carrier for 10 seconds for antenna tuning. Also some quick 'stratch' memos. It is solidly built for the price. The only negative thing is the 'beep' which can't be switched off, but it is fairly quiet.
