Must-have, kit OK too  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
The older reviews are about the meter, I got the kit.

Putting the kit together went fine. As the design has gone through a few changes throughout the years, it took a bit of effort to combine all the notes, but assembly only took an hour or two.

If you've ever collected kits together to be built by others you'll know that there are many more details to look at than just providing a bag of components and a diagram. Vicor clearly spent a lot, a lot of time working out subtile details to makr the kit successful: shipment packaging to make sure it does survive in transport, packing components in such a way that chances of accidental substitution are minimal, adjusting for feedback from the builder group..
This kit is a gem in that regard, there are many, many subtile details that have been looked at, up to and including adjusting the legths of the wires to allow for proper routing of both (uneven) paths. I'd recommend getting the kist just to see this.

As to the actual performance, I agree with earlier reviews. Recommended!

A "must have"!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I received my Equivalent Series Resistance meter well packed two weeks after order. Having downloaded upfront the (easy) instructions from EVB website, I could use it immediately after inserting a 9 V battery, and it worked like it should. Nice PCB manufacturing, careful attention to details such as auto-power-off, bright red LED display easy to read, simple zeroing but mainly...super efficient to track those nasty ageing Electrolytic capacitors that spoiled my 20+yr old Sony radio and helped rejuvenate my HP and Tektronix vintage instruments, without even removing them from their PCB.
Box is light plastic and not dust nor water proof, but this ESR meter is reasonably priced and up to its duty. Highly recommendable and really a time/money saver for anyone having to repair electronics. Thanks Vitor at EVB! F4GEQ

Wonderful tool  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Anyone who services a lot of electronic equipment, vintage or new, needs an ESR meter. The ARRL Handbook has a great explination of this condition. Also, there are LOTs of info on the WWW if you GOOGLE "ESR".

The firm AnaTek sells several different brands and I already own and use the Peak model from the UK. That review is listed on this site.

The EVB meter is compact and has a beautiful bright display. It works great. Unlike the Peak, this unit will NOT give you the value of an electrolytic cap, just it's ESR.
It is more handy to use than the Peak, since you do not need to push a button to get a reading.

I only have one tiny issue (and that's probably my fault). That is the "on/off - calibrate" switch.

Feel free to email me directly if you want to know the details.

I LOVE mine!!!
