Excellent demo device  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
This is a wonderful way to demo Marconi's first receiver. A coherer is just a glass tube with metal filings in it. The filings coalesce in the presence of RF. The product transmitter is just a hand spark generator with a brass dipole attached. The "receiver" is just a little coherer with a light attached that shows when the filings become grouped together and conduct power from a battery when in the presence of the RF from the spark. Very neat. Highly recommended. I've never seen a coherer before, let alone one that can be demonstrated. Well worth the money, and I think will be an excellent way to introduce radio to a shack visitor.
