Poor design  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I purchased the balun to run some antenna development impedance tests and the modeling suggested a 9:1 50 to 5.56 ohm UN-UN. When I received the balun I tested it on a VNA before use. The balun was inductively reactive over its entire range. OK from 1 to 5 MHz <1.5:1 The VSWR at 30 MHz was >6.8:1. The R was over 100 and the reactance very high. I contacted the factory and they replaced it with a core of perm of approx 100 or near a type 61 material. Should have been fine. Sorry no cigar. It is OK up to 11 MHz now at <1.5:1 but still off the charts > 20 MHz.
For those using it as a element on an lower HF band antenna and are willing to tune it, it will be CLOSE ,but certainly not a 1 - 30 MHz device.
