Best bang for your dollar

I'm so happy with these rigs I just purchased another one. I have had the Orion, and the Omni 7. All great radios but much more than I require for just rag chews. The radio is very pleasent to listen to. Not near the noise of of the pro 11 and the ft mp1000 that I have tried. Made right here in the US. I now have two of these and a few ft857d rig for mobile and travel. 73s

Great Transciever
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
|
My wife bought mei the Jupiter and had it shipped UPS overnight so I could have a radio while my Orion II was being repaired. Hooked up the Jupiter to work some of the CW contest. First I read the manual and then turned it on . That night I played around on 80 meters CW and in one hour made 40 contact . I had great reports. This tranciever is great but you have to read the manual just as you do on the Orion II. Both my Ten-Tec's are great and I would not have any other transciever. The help from Ten-Tec is top Quality. Everyone should vist Ten-Tec when they have their Hamfest and meet the people that make Ten-Tec Run. Tnx's Ten-Tec

Great Reciever
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
I have been running the Ten Tec Jupiter chasing DX and contesting for about a year now. Hundereds of hours and thousands of Q's later, I am still very pleased with the performance.
The receiver is pure Ten Tec quality. Very quiet in comparison to other manufacturers and the weak CW signals are easy to find and/or separate. Adjustable filtering is exceptional. The rig is easy to set up and runs very nice with PC/rig control in the contest environment.
For a SDR and primarily menu driven, I find it is very user friendly and easy to make changes on-the-fly.
Read the manual and you will be very pleased with the Ten Tec Jupiter.

The new Blue Screen
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
Mine arrived in late Sept and I agree with all that has been said of the
new Blue Screen Jupiter. Having had
a Green screen, one, I'm back because of
the simplicity of the menu system (none),
and the lovely QSK. However, the Blue
Screen viewing angle causes it to wash
out, something I didn't experience with the old
one. The adjustment of the contrast control
does not help. I have the rig in the same
position as the old and now need to use
the bail to lift up the rig for a better
view.
Only wish would be to have a Zero Beat
annunciator. Getting tone deaf. Yep, I do
have an external Zero Beat Indicator BTW.
The Anniversary Bencher Key is a nice touch
too.
I've reached my threshold at this price point.
Meaning, that CW signals are becoming less and
the prices the radio to hear them are increasing.
Can't comment on SSB/AM/FM. Strictly CW here.
BTW.. I haven't used my IC-7000 since getting
the rig.

I am happy, however...
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
I bought the new Jupiter two weeks ago. It actually is a great radio. It has the best receiver that I have ever owned. My previous radio was the Yaesu ft 950. The 950 has more features for the money, most features I never used. The Jupiter's NR works great! The AN works great! The noise level compared to my previous radio is very good. The price is a bit high...but it was worth it for me to know that I was supporting an American company.
The only issue I have is that Ten Tec really needs to work out the "bugs' with this newer firmware. Once that is taken care of, the Jupiter will be the best radio I have ever owned.

New Blue Screen Jupiter - Outstanding!
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
|
My new Blue Screen Jupiter came two days before Labor Day Weekend & I've already put about 150 hours on it. It's everything I hoped for and more. Receiver is excellent, signal reports on CW and SSB are great and it's simple to operate. I got the AT model and the tuner is great. It's fast and quickly tunes my inverted L on all bands. I've been licensed 30 years & I've owned dozens of rigs including the venerable Ten Tec Corsair II and an ICOM 746. this rig hears as well and it's no more difficult to operate than my simple Corsair II was. In terms of ease of operation & quality of receive signal, The Corsair II was my all time favorite and I thought nothing in my proce range would measure up. I was dead wrong. Ten Tec can really be proud of this new Jupiter!

New Blue Screen Jupiter---Great!
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
I have just gotten the new "Blue Screen Jupiter and have been putting it through it's paces the last several days. I am an experienced HF'er and have owned and operated Ten Tec's for years and also currently own the 'top of the line' Ten Tec Orion 2, and rigs from Icom, 756 ProII and others.
The new Jupiter is outstanding! In comparison with the Orion 2 and Icom 756 Pro II its reciever holds up very well. Signal reports on transmit audio are outstanding.
I have been putting the new CW reader through its paces also and it is an exciting new feature.
It reads CW quite well and is as good as any PC CW Software reader I have tried. The new PC keyboard hookup to the radio works well for CW sendng.
I have also used the Jupiter on PSK and it's direct hookup to the PC sound card makes it easy to get on the air with PSK.
I really like the new rig and believe you will also. The features for the price make it a real player in todays market. Well done Ten Tec!

Great Rig
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
Been a ham for 49 years and this has been my favorite rig. own a FT-920 which I also love and a FT-897D and many others including collins.
The Ft-920 is my next favorite, but the Jupiter
would be the keeper if I had to get rid of everything else. I really enjoy some of the reviews of those who have no idea how to operate a radio. probably came from the CB bands since the ham exam has been dumbed down so much. The Jupiter is simple, you read the manual once and never need it again. 73 K9TWO since 1959
