It just works!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Warning: if you consider buying this kit, make sure you or someone you know understands the German instructions. Unfortunately no other languages...
Kit arrived a few days after placing the order. All parts well wrapped. Ordered a few necessary cables with it. Connections to TRX via 15 pin D connector. Connections to the TRX need to be soldered to this connector. Single USB connection to the PC. Drivers and some software are supplied on a CD.
All non-SMD parts need to be soldered on the print, some parts are very close to pre-installed SMD components. Magnifing glass and adequate lighting are definitely necessary! Some holes in the PCB are a little small for the parts to be inserted, some parts need to be pushed in with a considerable amount of force.
Once assembled you have a neat package. Windows Vista recognizes an extra COM port and an USB audio codec. Unfortunately only one COM port, which means no TRX control and FSK-RTTY at the same time on my Kenwood TS-2000. VSPE comes to the rescue (http://www.eterlogic.com/Products.VSPE.html)!
Now both Hamradio Deluxe and MMTTY communicate with virtual COM6, which are both connected to physical COM5.
Would I buy this again? Yes. Is it just as fancy looking as the competition? Maybe not, but it does what it has to do.
