Very good and a bargain  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I bought as a throw-away HT. Have two Kenwood th-f6 for hiking and camping, and an FDC 160 for station repeater use. Sensitivity is very good. Squelch is not at consistent as the other rigs. All really need programming cable- no problem. I changed cars and wanted a rig for repeaters. Put the UV-5r in center console (hiding) of Audi using speaker mike and ran to an old Radio Shack 2 meter amp in trunk to magnetic antenna. Perfect for two meter operation for a song and stealth location. Exceeds expectations. External build quality average at best compared to others.
Product is in production.
