bought this to try verses my MD-100  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Bought my PR 781 to compete with my Yaesu MD-100 mic. I'm running it with a Yaesu FT DX 1200 radio. I've done quite a bit of on air testing with another Ham who has an SDR setup. He's been comparing the audio between the two mics and sending me files with the results from his SDR. I like the mic, but I was just a little surprised that it did NOT sound that much different than the MD-100. Still, I'm glad I have it. Here are the settings I'm running (for both the Heil PR 781 and the Yaesu MD-100)

Mic Gain = 30

Processor = 30

BW (menu 104) 200-2800 - was 300-2700 (may use 300-2700 for DX work/contest work...or maybe even extreme of 400-2600?)

*** with PROCESSOR OFF ***
SAME AS WITH PROCESSOR ON (may need to tweak some of these settings???)

159 - keep at default 200
160 - change from 0 to -6 (may even go as much as -10 if too much bass)
161 - change from 1 to 2
162 - change from 800 to 900
163 - change from 0 to -3 (Heil suggest even go to -6)
164 - change from 1 to 2
165 - change from 2100 to 2400
166 - change from +5 to +6 thru +10
167 - change from 1 to 2

*** with PROCESSOR ON ***

168 - keep at default 200
169 - change from -3 to -6 (may even go as much as -10 if too much bass)
170 - keep at default 2
171 - change from 800 to 900
172 - change from 0 to -3 (Heil suggest even go to -6)
173 - change from 1 to 2
174 - change from 2100 to 2400
175 - change from +5 to +6 thru +10
176 - change from 1 to 2
Product is in production.
