I was looking around the Internet for software to draw Great Circle maps, centered around my QTH. I was looking for one that had nice colors, and was customizable. Then I found Roger's site.
The program is a zip file, plus one self-extracting .exe zip file for the .dll library. Unzipped, it's 1.6 Mb small.
It's a great, compact program, and made the maps I wanted. I made two versions: one with a range of 12,000 miles (pretty much the whole earth), and one out to 8,000 miles. As a rule of thumb, most of the QSO's I get are within about 8,000 miles.
You can print it, or save it as a .BMP file. I loaded the .BMP file into MS Paint, then resaved it as a .GIF file. It shrank the 1 Mbyte .BMP file into a 30K GIF file, which is just perfect for having as a reference on the laptop in the field.
Give it a shot. Can't go wrong.
Job well done, Roger!
