I bought one of these for work purposes to help build and align VHF and UHF filters.
My first experience was not good, the software did not work correctly and the display scaling and marker information was completely wrong when switched to the log frequency display mode. After an extended email exchange with the manufacturers they finally released updated software which solved some of the problems. However the fact that they had not spotted this fairly serious problem during development did not give much confidence in the product.
I've now used the unit for some time I’m fairly convinced that it was originally designed for something like aligning Cable TV filters in a factory environment. Many of the default presets seem to be set up for this purpose. The downside of this is that if you change any of the frequency or amplitude ranges by any significant amount you have to re-run the calibration procedure which involves repeated connecting and disconnecting cables and terminations to the front panel N connectors, which makes this a time consuming and tedious process.
Although the unit was cheap compared to similar professional equipment, I’m not too sure that it offers good value for money. It doesn’t provide the accuracy of professional equipment, or have a price tag which makes it appealing to non-professionals.
