FT2K and PEP-updates  Time owned: more than 12 months
I have had a couple FT2K’s for several years,
One of which is completely computer controlled.
watching the updates talking with Tim at Yaesu, I see that this radio is very close to a SDR and still have knobs…Having said that could this radio use improvement, yes, as a matter of fact they all can in one way or another.
This last upgrade and PEP update has really made a big improvement to the FT2K.

I work CW, my vertical is tuned for the CW bands. On the air nearly every night and early morning, additionally I work tons of digital. My FT2K has never miss a beat, burped, or let me downed. However, there are still a few issues, (i.e.- narrowing down the band width in CW), (Sub not as strong at the primary), nothing that can’t eventually be corrected through upgrades. Oh, I was upset at first but I stuck with the system and it just keeps getting better and better. Read the manual and get comfortable with the menus, join a user group.

While speaking of upgrades I have heard of horror stories while trying to install an up grade. I highly recommend that you get and use the CT-119 programming cable, makes life so easy. Don’t forget to (recommended) check your computer cable straight through pin for pin, ohmmeter and a couple paper clips.
