It wouldn't bother me at all. My "Hot Rig" is a 50 watt TenTec and all the rest are QRP or qrpp.Total of 5. If you have a good antenna and watch the terminator line as night crosses the continent you can hit Europe with no trouble. Regularly work all three coasts and Canada with a 3-5 R,4-9 S and a 7-9 T. All QRP rigs are W1FB HB slashing out with 1 1/2 Watts. qrpp go on at 350-750 mw. When I got my first Novice ticket all you could run was 60 Watts and "rock bound" at that. So for me,no problem. You just need a good antenna or you are wasting your time. Obviously all CW.

I bought a homemade tranceiver from a Ham in California for a dollar. It was on the cover of Han Radio, I think the march or April issue of 1980. It did not work. One of the resistors in the audio section was open. I replaced it, tuned it up and connected to my 5 band vertical mounted on our roof. My first contact was someone in Yuba City, California. Oh how thrilled I was as new technician (1984 or 5) QSO 40 meters. I want to get active again. dI have ordered one of the SDR,s from softrock40.

I do not do QRP, but rather QRO with Broadcast Digital TV. Ran more or less 100KW Output in Digital TV two weeks ago for 2 Minutes on Digital 1080i in Atlanta Ga doing some things on Best Buy's at the Shopping Center....Can you top 100KW Output Digital TV Power???

I'm guessing 10gHZ EME would be the best at 50 watts max.

A correction on my numbers with my QRPp QSO with W8YRP - I was at 100 mW and he was at 10 mW. The miles/watt numbers are correct.

I operate exclusively CW QRP and have WAS, WAC, and about 80 countries toward DXCC. My most extreme QRPp contact was with W8YRP in NE. (I'm in MI.) I was running 10 mW (6510 miles/watt) and he was at 1 MW (65100 miles/watt). My most exciting QRP DX was at 5 watts with VI5PN off the southern coast of Australia. QRP works great!

My most valued QSO was from Louisville KY to The Turks and Cacos Islands in the British West Indies on 144.200(2M)USB. I was running 35 watts into a 7 element yagi up 30 feet. The QSO lasted fifteen minutes. His QSL card is in the place of honor on my wall. In my mind, linear amplifiers are just a poor substitute for a good antenna. And they create excessive QRM and bad feelings all over the world.

Ham radio can be enjoyable at any power level. Seeing what one can do with the aid of the ionosphere with less power than a night light is part of the fun. Many of us were drawn to QRP not by those 5 watt commercial rigs but by homebrew rigs and kits. Best radio experiences are too numerous - QRP-to-QRP DX and working a T9 with my '38 special' - a simple rig with 300 mW output and a single xtal receive filter.

During the last solar cycle: WAC (including Antarctica) on 20 m SSB QRP and WAS (except ID and DE) on 6 m SSB QRP.
I don't use a high-power amp; the most power I ever run is 100 W. Most of the time, I use a an Argonaut V or a K2, so a 50 W limit
would not really bother me.
OTOH, so folks find a need for 1.5 kW. There's no reason to lower the present limit.
