You measure the quality of a radio receiver by what it leaves out, not by what it picks up.

Anyone a fan of the TV show "Last Man Standing" on ABC. The lead character, played by Tim Allen, is a ham on the show. The producers have issued 2 QSL cards from the show, one for Allen's character and the other for the character playing his daughter. If you wish to received these for your collection, send your card and a SASE to Pete, NL7XM (via his QRZ address).

What did the Yagi Antenna say at the awards acceptance speech? First off I'd like to thank all my directors ...

It seems sad that these days, hams are more interested in modern tech and in having 'automatic' equipment than in actually learning the whys and hows of hamming.

If stupidity got us into this mess, then why can't it get us out?" "- Will Rogers (1879- 1935)

There are certain instances when the use of radio prowords are helpful. If all of you OTs cant take time to mentor 'greenies', you should sign "out". Roger?

Do you remember when capacitors were called condensers?

I have noticed a lack of knowledge with a lot of new hams. Some can't even make a simple dipole antenna. I blame some of it on the licensing format now and some on the advanced equipment. Just turn them on and talk. No skill needed.

Amateur Radio golden rules: Listen, observe, question, learn, remember, and then do it. (Stop procrastinating!)

With a nod to K9WN's recent stray: the "perfect" antenna is found in that unbounded enthusiasm that the next you're putting up one will be "perfect"!

Remember when ""Having a QSO" meant actually Communicating with Another Human, rather than Filling Up Your Log as fast as possible?

Remember when "bugs" in relay systems were real bugs?
