Have you invited non-hams to your station while in operation letting them talk over the radio?
2015-02-02

Do you take a radio station along with you whenever you or your family might go on a vacation, to the cottage, head out camping, or take an overseas trip...?
2014-12-02

Looking back to YOUR start in Ham radio, with an eye to "...the way things are in the world" to-day, do you think that you would have become an Amateur radio operator if you were somehow miraculously the same age as when you started, but in 2014?
2014-09-11

R.F.I.---the continuing scourge of Ham radio, be it "traditional" horizontal oscillators of TVs going back to the 40's, or the raucous din of to-day's plasma televisions, exercise equipment, lighting systems, furnaces, electric fences, power line leakages, AD NAUSEAM. How have YOU handled cases where somebody's electric contraption seriously hampered YOUR on-the-air activities...?

What can be done to further Amateur Radio?

Manager - VK5LA
Andy Williss (VK5LA) Welcome to the Survey Page.

The goal is to help us all gain a
better understanding of the ham
community... what we like... what
we don't like... about various
aspects of our hobby. Let's make
it fun and maybe kick up a little
dust once in a while. I hope you
all will participate and enjoy the
questions.

Please enter your ideas for future
survey questions yourself (click on
the "Enter your idea" link just
above) or send them directly to me
at surveymaster@eham.net .

I often get comments that there is
a commercial interest in the survey
questions and that some of the
questions are "rigged"...I assure
all eham users that the questions
are
in no way influenced by any
company, person or persons.
The questions in the survey all
come via contributions to eham or
are just plain made-up by your
humble survey manager.

Please note that there are many
potential surveys in our queue, and
many of them are duplicates.
Sometimes we combine several
questions into one. We at eham.net
make every effort to present all
content in a way that will be
easily understandable and useful to
an international audience.

Are eHam surveys boring and or irrelevant now?

Surveys
I just got back into ham radio after 30 years. Surveys are
a great way to catch up on where the hobby is headed.

Newletter or Automated & User Configurable delivery options?
With the emails of so many hams on file, the staff at
eham could send a monthly newsletter once a week or
monthly with the results of last survey plus a notice and
link to the new survey. I'd even love to see a monthly
newsletter that has all of the new reviews, topics, etc. in
my email inbox each week or month. I wonder if this
could even be automated and user configurable through
the alert engine that eham already uses to notify
individuals when a topic they have interest in has
received a comment, which seems to be the same alert
engine used for eham classifieds notifications?

E Ham Survey's
Continue the survey's but they need to
be changed every week or every other
week to keep things freah.

Posted by WA6SVX on May 3, 2015

Ok by me
I think they are kind of fun and show just how
the hobby is doing...keep them.

Posted by N0FPE on May 2, 2015

Getting Boring
I think a fresh survey on a monthly basis would be great. I find it interesting to see the ideas and comments of other hams. The last survey seemed to be up for many months and I believe that fact is the cause of the many negative comments that were lodged at the end of its duration. Make them pertinent (although you can't please everybody) and timely and I would be happy to participate and learn from them.

Posted by W2FBS on May 2, 2015

Survey time
The survey time is too long. Reduce it to
perhaps a week in length.

Posted by K3GM on April 30, 2015

Keep the survey but keep them fresh.
Keep them fresh more so than FCC, or ARRL
rule making. Consider Licensed Amateur
operator's input and suggestions.

Posted by N6HHK on April 30, 2015

Pretty good questions, possible response not always so.
I would like to see them continue. I believe
as much thought should be given to the
possible survey answer(s) as is given to the
initial survey question.

Survey Updates
There shud be a new one weekly. last few have lasted forever and got boreing for sure...

Posted by K8KAS on April 29, 2015

Enjoyable
Please keep them coming. I enjoy them!!!

Posted by W6AAJ on April 29, 2015

Interesting sometimes...
I think more thought should go into the answers instead of the questions. Some of the answers are ambiguous and favor a certain outcome. For instance, a yes/no question may have 5 possible responses, but 4 of them are yes.

Posted by WB4M on April 29, 2015

ME TOO
Looks almost unanimous to me - not changed often
enough. I like them. Sometimes I have to give some
time and thought into what it is I really believe. Keep up
the good work. I will continue to support the page
financially.

Surveys are like fish.
As many say, and it is very true:
Surveys are very interesting, but they absolutely must be fresh. With eHam.net's readership, I would find it difficult to believe that contributors would run out of ideas.

Keep it going. Keep it fresh. IF you remove it, or if you neglect it, it will say more about the web site than you may realize.

Posted by AI2IA on April 28, 2015

Interesting
The surveys are interesting to the varying answers but the need the circulate faster. Seems like the last question was up for 3 months.

Posted by NA5XX on April 28, 2015

Surveys
I like them but would like to see them change two weeks or less. Enjoy reading the comments.
Eham is great web page. I visit numerous times a day, tons of good information.

Posted by N1FDX on April 28, 2015

Uninteresting
Surveys have been up longer than a month before--this is the first time it went over two.

Surveys aren't interesting anymore, and some of them have really bad answers or answers that don't cover the basics. Most surveys are by the same person too--even though it's said to condense the same or similar questions.

Time for a major overhaul of the survey section, or maybe just fresh blood--as in a manager who is really interested in keeping that section fresh and up to date.

Surveys
I enjoy the eHam surveys, many are very interesting as are the comments. Having said that, I think that they need to be changed regularly - anything over a month is too much! Surveys and diapers need to be changed frequently; and for the same reason!

Posted by WB0HZL on April 28, 2015

Keep 'em coming!
The surveys are good, but, like a soiled diaper, they need to be changed often.

It would also be nice if it were possible to have choices added in by those participating with administrator supervision, of course.

Bitch if you contribute
I browse EHam Net every day.
I subscribe every year, be it not many
dollars, being retired and on a fixed income.
My subject line says it all.
My mother use to say if you have nothing good
to say keep quite.
Carry on EHam.

I agree with K0CBA at the top of these comments. I voted NO, but would have to change my mind if the surveys run beyond a month or so. It is 'claimed' in the Survey Page to the right here that there are "many" potential surveys. If this is so, then let's get them posted... monthly. If not, the change the script and start begging for surveys to be submitted. I'd like to know the reason for the recent two month long survey.... if due to health of manager, then would be understood.

The Survey survey
I like them and find many to be of interest but I must admit to voting 'no' because if a survey is going to stay up longer that the Dead Sea Scrolls (like the last one), I'd rather pass on having it.

A 'reasonable' time limit must be decided upon and then enforced.

Posted by K0CBA on April 28, 2015

Time Length
Make it one month per topic---MAXIMUM---or, two weeks-
--MINIMUM.

That way, people can get a "sense" of public opinion re. the
topic at hand.

I agree: two-plus months is WAY too long...

Posted by VE3CUI on April 28, 2015

I Agree
I would just like to agree with KA5ROW Douglas
they should change weekly. Thanks 73s

Posted by MI6NIR on April 28, 2015

Agree with KA5ROW, change out the surveys weekly. What is the point of having the same survey for over two months? Anything over a week becomes stale especially to those of us who frequent the site often.

If there is concern that someone might miss a survey. Then have just have several links below the current one for the older surveys below the current one. Much like the "articles" section does above on top. The articles section works great overall.

Surveys really a matter of opinion. We could have survey called "What Is The Best H.F. Rig"? And we would get 50 different answers and each person who posted would be right.

If you are going to keep the surveys, then please change them out every week or so.

Thanks

daily survey
it gets lame seeing the same survey.Should be everyday to keep interest.

Posted by K1LLR on April 28, 2015

Boring...? To WHOM, Exactly...?!
These surveys are HARDLY boring to anyone, it seems,
with the singular exception maybe of just those people
who are tasked with the responsibility of updating them
on some sort of a regular basis...!

Just read a few of the comments posted on those surveys
that remained on-line well beyond their "...best before
date": people clamour for topic changes, enthusing about
the possibility of there being more, and express
themselves in that manner. If they were dis-interested,
then why would they even bother to check into the website
periodically, never mind taking the trouble to actually
voice their opinions...?!

Posted by VE3CUI on April 28, 2015

eHam surveys should change weekly a survey
lasting a month or more is not good.

Posted by KA5ROW on April 28, 2015

Status of continuing Survey format
These Surveys full a purpose on eHam.net. Any individual can submit an idea for a furture posted Survey. VK5LA's goal as stated in the sidebar is the purpose of this Survey and is tailored to the Amateur Radio/Shortwave listener population.
