OPTIBEAM OB11-5 / my new antenna

I had to change my 20 years old 3-band beam, summer 2019. I would like to add WARC bands to my shck.  After a market study, "what may I adujst on my 18 Meters mast", Optibeam was in the "final" options.

- compact

- no traps

- good performances

- clever engineering

I ask Thomas, DF2OB, the OPTIBEAM manufacturer, per email, about some technical details (adaptation to my existing mast) and delivry options. Answer came in the next hours. after a couple oft days "reflexion".  A forthnight after decision, the 125 pounds "box" stays in front of my garden... One night to study the usermanual, one day to assembly the antenna on ground and one day more to lift it up on the mast.

- all parts in the box

- strong material

- assembly manual with pictures

- pleasure at work

- performance as shown on technical documents

- excellent assistance from manufacturer

I'am really enthusiastic for the new experience. I shall try, during next months, more QSO's, to confirm my first good "impression". Many thanks to Thomas for this good"job".

I use for years Optibeam , we have now our 4th Optibeam .
First we had a OB9-5 (Yagi 20-10 mtrs) and a OB1-40 (40 dipole mtrs) , later upgraded to OB12-6 (40-10 exc. 30 mtrs) . We have also a OB5-6 for 6 , Construction is very good and strong. We live in a very windy area and every Optibeam survived ;-) Support when need is very fast !
