Tim Holzheimer, N6DIY, contacted me
the week of November 18 ( I don't
remember the exact day) and wanted
to purchase a PTT switch, and mic
adapter for an Icom 706 I had
listed for $40.00. I wanted Paypal,
but Tim said he had no Paypal
account and wanted to send a USPS
money order. I agreed. He contacted
me the first part of the week of
November 25th telling me he'd been
delayed getting to the post office
due to the bad weather in Texas. I
had read about the weather, and
thought nothing of it. I was
leaving on a cruise on 11/30, so I
told him I'd drop the switch and
adapter in the mail so he wouldn't
have to wait. When I returned from
my cruise on 12/5 there was no
money order. I've contacted him
numerous times, and was told he'd
paid a fee to the post office to
track the money order. I asked
multiple times for a copy of the
money order stub, and have never
received a copy. His last email to
me on 1/11 follows:
"Ronnie
I spent half a day yesterday
dealing with the postal service and
the federal investigative service.
It turns out that the money order
(serial number 21202264585) was
cashed on your end in December as
it was originally sent to you on 26
November.
You will be receiving certified
mail later this week and I highly
recommend that you fill out your
part and follow the instructions.
I would also recommend that you
check to see if all of your mail is
being received.
All communications on this subject
will now only occur via certified
mail.
Thank you.
Tim"
I have yet to receive a "certified"
or any other letter from Tim! Tim
has the PTT switch, and mic
adapter, and I have nothing. It's
only a $40.00 loss, but it is the
FIRST time I've had a bad
experience with a Ham Radio
operator. Deal with him at your own
risk.
If he contacts me, and this gets
resolved, I will update this post.

Today, January 25. 2014, Dr. Tim Holzheimer, N6DIY, provided me with
the correct documentation showing that he did indeed send me a $40.00
money order. I have photocopies provided the USPS showing both sides
of the money order. It was properly filled out to me, with a correct
address, and amount. The rear side is not very readable, and there
appears to be no signature. There is something unreadable in the
center part of the money order. I have filled out the paperwork Dr.
Holzheimer has provided and sent it back to the Scanning and Imaging
Center as instructed. Once the investigation is complete, a refund
will be issued to Dr. Holzheimer, and sent to me.

I apologize for any embarrassment I may have caused with my initial
posting. Dr. Holzheimer, N6DIY did exactly what he should have done.
The bureaucracy of the USPS is slow, as I should have expected.

Moderators, if you'd leave this up for a week so all can see the N6DIY
did nothing wrong, then remove it, I would be grateful.
