 $50 + exact shipping.
100 ohm 4-C landline relay made by Western Electric bearing a 1903 patent date.
Bears the Western Union ID tag.
The relay was originally had lacquered brass hardware on a mahogany base but at some time during its career, it was serviced at the New York Repair Shop (“N.Y.R.S”.) of Western Union, as indicated with the stamp on the underside. Items that passed through the repair shop were always painted black and the hardware was cadmium plated, as on this bug. The cadmium plating is largely oxidized.
Resistance measures out at ~100 ohms and it could be used in a working display.
This would look good as a display item in a shack paying homage to amateur radio's roots in landline Morse.
