Someone posing as me is sending inquiries to ads posted by other hams. Fortunately they are using my arrl.net email to respond and I am telling them it is a scam. Last week he had two adds for sale here at Eham. He is using email address w4grj1@gmail.com and w4grj2@gmail.com
Wish there was a way to catch these guys.

Fraud
If you think you have been ripped off by another member of eHam.net,
there are several things you can do, depending on how far you want to
take your complaint. We recommend you start with the first two steps below,
before following up on any others.
Talk to the other member. Sometimes it may seem like you've been ripped
off when what really has happened is there has been a miscommunication.
See if this is the case before you take your complaint to the next level.
Contact the Classifieds
Manager. If you feel this is an outright case of fraud or a blatant
misuse of the eHam.net Classifieds, send us an email with
the person's Callsign. We will investigate it and if we are able to
determine with certainty that there was a misuse we will block the member
from using the site and delete all of their ads. Please consider this
a fairly extreme measure - it takes a lot of time to follow up on these
complaints.
Contact a third party to resolve the problem. If you need to, contact
an outside party to arbitrate your dispute.
File a formal complaint. If you paid for an item but never received
it, this is considered mail fraud. You can contact your local Post Office
or the National Fraud Information Center
(http://www.fraud.com) and file a formal complaint.
For some time now, I have been periodically receiving anonymous email responses to some of my outdated eHam Classifieds listings.
I had removed the listing content, entering DELETED in the various blocks.
Unopened, the emails contain no call signs or email addresses and are very, very odd.
I never open the emails, and immediately delete them, suspecting that they contain some form of hacking, phishing, ransomware, or virus threat.
Be forewarned in case you receive one of these bogus responses to your eHam listing.
UPDATE:
I just received confirmation from Ed, K7AAT, that he has also been receiving these emails on his old eHam Classifieds listings, which wisely, he doesn't click on either.

I have been trying to sell a vx1210 radio , the Guy was from Canada and wanted everything his way, He wanted to get me to ship using his Fedx Account and use PayPal but when using a other persons Fedx account and you ship to listed address the guy can have item forwarded to a other address and say he never got it, also could had been using a other PayPal account not his or his address. He Wanted photos and then more photos I bet we sent 50 total. The Emailing wouldn't stop it was his way or no way so watch selling to most Canada Addresses the guy wasted 2 weeks of my time. The guy told me if I cheated him? and not sure were he got that from, he would have to file Bankruptcy, I told the guy if buying a radio is going to place you in that deal you don't need it.

There is a scammer who is using the call KD8VLL of Michael D. Farnsworth in WVA. He attempted to sell a K3S and P3 to me. He must troll the "WANTED" ads looking for people to scam. He sends cut and past photos of the gear you are looking for in your ad. He will not give you a phone number or call you back on your phone. If you know the real KD8VLL, please warn him. This scammer is not very smart, but he was somewhat convincing in the beginning. So don't be fooled. He uses a "gmail account also.

Contact the Classifieds

from using the site and delete all of their ads. Please consider this
a fairly extreme measure - it takes a lot of time to follow up on these
complaints.
Contact a third party to resolve the problem. If you need to, contact

I have received two direct email offers today from 2 different addresses, ronaldk3qa@gmail.com & k8wrescott@gmail.com
I started communication because I was concerned it was a scam. The first person (Ronald K3QA) and I told him said it was too expensive. Within two hours I received a second email from k8wre Scott with the same wording but a lower price. Both are direct to me, unsolicited, from .gmail. first call is "unmanaged" second call is non existent. Watch for any direct offer using .gmail. Roger K8CIX

Boston.Com (Technology) published a list of the 10 most common passwords.
In descending order, they are; password; 123456; qwerty; abc123; letmein; monkey; muspace1; Password1; blink182; (your name). Or, for hams, "your call".
I wonder how many of the hams who claim to have their passwords hacked were using one of the preceeding passwords.
If you don't lock the door, don't complain when you've been cleaned out!

Anyone getting a reply from W9CAD, beware. Usually uses all caps with the signature line, and as always with these offshore scumbags, does not have a firm grasp with spelling and grammar. The real W9CAD does not list an email address. Of course which email address do these perps use? @gmail.com of course. Be forewarned.

AC2MO Greg - ripped me off
Bought an IC 746 non pro from AC2MO
through eBay.
Rig arrived timely. Initial testing proved
worked ok - but max 85 watts output.
Unfortunately, I assumed a previous owner
turned power down via service menu to
preserve life. Three days later - it flopped.
Looked inside and saw numerous previous
poor service work areas. Very poorly done.
Worse of which Q4 driver was replaced with
an NTE342... Incorrect replacement. This
damaged the post drive circuit.
Greg, the seller said he was not aware and
never ran over 20 watts... Yet sold me said
rig as 100% functional. I found his claim of
this a bit suspiscious. Initially, He offered to
pay for my replacing the drivers (2SC1972)
so, I did. Those were VERY hard to find, as
we all are aware of. No joy- as suspected
there are further damages from the
mismatched drivers.
Asked Greg to do the right thing and just
refund my money. Of course he claims I
broke the radio, now... He is not even
considering the two weeks the radio sat on
the shelf waiting on the pair of 2SC1972
transistors that I fortunately found from
Eleflow. Of course, I received the normal
return questions from him, "did you align it,
do you have the service manual..." Duh...
But, I actually told him I understood and
appreciated his asking. I even provided to
him, through eBay's email service, high res
photos of the mal-serviced PA / Driver
section as I found it when it died, and
photos of the manifest and new transistors
when they arrived. I still have, of course,
photos of every step of my r&r of the
drivers, full notes of the troubleshooting and
voltage checks... IOW - I've been servicing
radios quite a while and am in the habit of
documenting my processes.
It was only when I told him I was fully aware
of his selling me the rig knowing it was not
correctly serviced, that he decided to not
offer any recourse for me to have the rig
repaired or returned for a refund.
So, I get a $650.oo lesson in Caveat
Emptor.
Sure isn't a life altering event for me to lose
$650, but it has changed Greg's integrity
level - for keeps.
AC2MO - has lessons to learn in that
intentionally ripping people off, who have
good standing in the Amateur, Broadcast,
and Commercial Radio circles will not at all
serve his reputation well.
Attached one photo of the incorrect driver
he, or his shade tree service guy slipped in
there...
Thanks for your time-

If you find an ad that violates our Terms of Service, please contact

I should have caught on at "superb
condition". As it is, this robot,
I seriously doubt that a person
could be so obtuse, had me going.
In any case, I would not have sent
$ without verifying the address
actually belonged to Dale the ham.
I am still looking for a 1210 or
similar quality transverter. I did
see one on ebay "from Ukraine" but
have not been able to find any
design documentation for it.

eHam.net Vision Statement
To build the largest and most complete Amateur Radio community site on the Internet - a "portal" that hams think of as the first place to go for information, to exchange ideas, and be part of what’s happening with ham radio on the Internet. eHam.net provides recognition and enjoyment to the people who use, contribute, and build the site.
This project involves a management team of volunteers who each take a topic of interest and manage it with passion. The site will stand above all other ham radio sites by employing the latest technology and professional design/programming standards, developed by a team of community programmers who contribute their skills to the effort. The site will be something of which everyone involved can be proud to say they were a part.
