Doppler Systems DDF4004 Manual and/or hook-up info
« on: April 18, 2015, 09:53:10 AM »

Hello,

I was given a Doppler DDF4004 Doppler Direction Finding unit without antennas.  It powers up fine and the voice synthesizer works, so all indications are it's a working unit.  I'd like to hook it up to 4 antennas on the car, but have no idea how to do this.  The manufacturer's website (dopsys.com) has information on the power/audio hookup, but nothing on hooking the actual antennas to the unit.

There are 4 antenna jacks and I'd need to know what antenna goes where (North / South / East / West antennas correspond to which jacks on the back of the unit?).  I'm assuming all the antennas should be ~ 1/4 wave for the frequency of interest, and all feedlines must be electrically the exact same length taking the velocity factor of the coax into account.  However, I'd also need to know the correct spacing between the antennas and any other pertinent hookup information.

Does anybody out there have a manual for the DDF4004?  Or, if somebody could at least point me in the right direction in regards to the antennas that'd be very helpful as well.

Thanks & 73,
Dan / AB0RE

Thanks, K5TED.  I found their site before posting to eHam.  Doppler System's online technical documents show the DC and audio hookups only for this model, but offer no suggestions as to how to hook up the antennas (which antenna goes to which jack).  The only other suggestion they have is "contact the factory if you'd like to purchase a manual" - I'm hoping somebody can help out instead.
