Tokyo Hi Power HL-50B ALC/Hard Key control?
« on: January 14, 2004, 01:51:18 AM »

Hello folk,

I am the owner of a Tokyo Hi Power HL-50B amplifier which I use with my FT-817 and Z11 auto tuner.  I have made two attempts to construct a cable for this amplifier to provide for ALC control/hard keying and have not had much success...  I use the 817 with the W4RT one touch tune and the CT-62 for CAT control.  The problem I am running into is that while I might be able to make the cable function for alc/keying, CAT/One Touch Tune no longer works until I disconnect the cable.  I ordered the cable pieces from W4RT and have checked and double checked my connections and still have yet to get the desired result.  Has anyone here ever attempted a similar setup, and what were your experiences?  I have made cables for microcontrollers and various other applications with no problems so I am not sure where I am going wrong.  Should I even be concerned with alc/hard key control?  I usually run 2.5 watts in for 25 watts out, once in a while going up to 5 watts in for 50 watts out.  I am mostly concerned with over driving my signal.  The HL-50B is a wonderful amp and I really wish I could purchase a cable for my application.  Anyone out there with a similar setup or some suggestions?  Thanks and 73's...
