« on: June 04, 2015, 09:57:21 PM »

I have seen Chris on SSB, but never on CW. I worked him on SSB only when he was in Central African Republic several years ago as TL0A.

He now seems to be favouring RTTY, so haven't bothered this time.

A few years ago he had some other operators with him in Niger, some of whom did CW, but it's just Chris this time.

Good luck with the new one.

I worked Chris on 15m ssb last weekend, quite a tough pile-up, but he seems to have been all rtty since then.

When he was based in 5U he was mostly ssb, same when he moved to TL. When he was part of that 5U dxped recently, I don't think he did any ssb, all rtty.

Chris is now on 14190 up 5 by numbers.

Working Europe, with a strong station in Spain on 14188 making copy almost impossible.

He seems interested in working EU only. The other day he had a good signal on 15m with many JA and Asian stations calling him (including self), but he continued to work EU. When the band opened into NA, he switched to RTTY and ran some more EU. He likes to repeat his callsign and QSX "5 to 10 up" after each qso. It doesn't help his rate though he doesn't seem to take too long either in putting calls in his log.

Have a lone CW QSO with 5U9AMO on 12m, could do with a few bandfills if only he asks EU to QRX every once in a while. GL to those who need 5U.

I've worked him on 40 and 30 rtty.

He's on every day at lunch time for me on 18 rtty and seems only to hear EU and an occasional JA. He's 57 with me, but compared to EU I must be in the garbage on his end...

My real difficulty is that he just says "up" with no range. I don't hear 99% of the stations he's working so I don't really know where to call....

I guess it's like fishing rather than catching ;-)

I see his is working 10M SSB now according to the DX cluster.  I should have propagation
this afternoon and evening on 20 thru 10.  Maybe I will get lucky  ::)

I checked and don't have Niger on phone.

Looks like another one to chase, a bit...

Seems to be mostly on 20, 17, and 15. Would like to get him on other bands but his antennas may not allow it.

I don't have Niger on cw.

I was looking at the I2YSB activations of Niger, and there have been a lot of them, but I think they all were in the 90's or very early 2000's?

I have worked and confirmed a number of Niger activations in the past 3 years (5U5U, 5U9AMO, 5U8NK) but it would be wonderful to have a big, all-band, all-mode multi-op I2YSB activation of Niger.
