Ham Spirit is alive!
« on: September 06, 2001, 08:32:05 AM »

This is a short story I let you know about some experiences in the best way I made. Regarding this theme we are mostly discussing QRM & trouble made on DX-ped. frequencies. Not often we hear about good samples for Ham Spirit. So I tell about something that happens to me.

I'm working as a service and commissioning engineer and my company sent me to Taiwan very shortly. 2 days before flight time I got the information. So there was not much time left to prepare anything not concerning my job. I sent out some e-mails to BV-Hams asking how to get a license. Within a few hours I got the forms, filled them and sent all back via e-mail with a copy of my German license attached. 1 day after my first mail I got a copy of my BV-license without any costs! Thanks BV5AF & BV3CM!
Coming to Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan I got first phone calls on my day of arrival. Next day I met some local HAM's and on my 3rd evening I made the first QSO's under BV7/DL7IO. Another time I could spent a night on someones station etc. I finally made several hundred QSO's without bringing a radio or antenna. Many thanks especially to BV7FO, BV7GA, BV7GC, BV7AA etc.

Right now I have 2 rooms in a 13 floor high building (on the 13th floor! hi), antennas on the roof for 40m-17m and a transceiver for radioing! Everything is belonging to local HAM's! I am very happy that I could met those HAM's and would like to use this forum to say Thank You!

I will be back to Taiwan next week and hope to make many more QSO's.
