I have a minority opinion. I have 72 DXCC entities confirmed via digital modes accomplished over a relatively short period of time because I'm not a fan of digital modes.

I have no ATNOs from digital modes and with 328 current countries confirmed my disdain for those modes has never caused me to lose a contact with an DXpedition.

I have a SignaLink.  I see no harm in the guy who started this topic adding digital modes but as long as he does CW and SSB I don't think not using digital would've cost him an ATNO.

I like RTTY for DXing and have 130 confirmed on it (vs. 235 mixed). I was looking at my DXCC credit matrix and it shows I have 5X, A4, TJ, TY, 5W, and ST0R confirmed only on RTTY. I also have CP only confirmed on Hellschreiber.

But you're not him.  Let him try the experiment if he wants to.

As for me, I do have a handful that were RTTY first and one DXCC remains RTTY only.  It happens.

Get them while you can, for heaven's sake.  That's like DXing 101.

I know I'm on your enemies list but you really need to start reading all of my posts.

I know you need to always get the last word in so go ahead.

RTTY is excellent mode of operation. It's fun and challenging at times. But that's what makes it

fun to me! I have chased Dx & contested using RTTY for over 10 years with 201 confirmed.

S79HN was a new one for me! Try it you might like it!

I count 5:

East Malaysia
Philipines
South Korea
Minami-Torishima
Jordan.

Hi all,
I usually just read the posts for my enjoyment or information but have decided to jump into this one. I personally believe that there are enough different aspects of Amateur Radio and Dx’ing that everyone can pick and choose what they like or don’t like in their quest of fulfilling the goal that they set for themselves.
My philosophy for DX’ing is to take advantage of every opportunity and tool available to make my contacts. I run 100 watts of power from Washington State so generally, if I can not work a Dxpedition for a new country I might not get another chance. I missed my share of ATNO’s over the years and patiently wait for my next chance.
I do have DXCC on Phone 335, CW 227 and RTTY 139 and also contest casually on all three modes when I can.
My point is that out of the 337 current countries that I have confirmed in the last 20 years, TWO of them were not on SSB. I worked Kerguelen  only on CW and Bangladesh only on RTTY.   If I only operated on SSB would I have ever had another opportunity to work these 2 Countries? Maybe, Maybe not.
If you have the equipment to do RTTY, jump in with both feet. You may find that you might actually enjoy it.

I have E4 only on RTTY (thanks Vlad) and my first QSO with KH1 was on RTTY but I did work them plenty of times after that.  My only 20m QSO with PY0S was on RTTY, so it has helped some.  I do think RTTY pileups are easier to deal with than SSB pileups in general.

Despite hours of trying for CW with the recent Tromelin dxpedition (frustrating pileups due to cops/dqrm.. lack of propagation), my one and only QSO for the ATNO was on RTTY! I would have to look but I may have a couple of other countries that are only confirmed/worked in a digital mode.

We have one club member who pretty much only works RTTY and is on RTTY/Digital DXCC Honor Roll.
