It is easy to import your settings on FireFox - just copy the profiles and paste them into the new computer. They are found in the User directory and may have to be renamed when installed into your new machine to activate them. Same for Thunderbird also.

I just bought this laptop this past Sunday. I took advantage of that sale for Lenovo laptop s21e-20 on sale for $149 with 2GB ram and a 32 GB solid state hard drive that was advertised at Office Max/Office Depot Sunday advertisement, I got the last one.

Don't tell JX I have a Windows 8.1 machine, well it won't be 8.1 for long.

I installed Firefox and some plugins and some apps. And installed VLC media player. I don't want the Microsoft default.

So as I understand it....as long as I follow the custom prompts and not the express when installing Windows 10. Firefox, the plugins, apps and VLC Media Player will continue to be the default? And still work?

Is that Correct?

I don't know much about computers but I get the logic at MS. If you go to the corner of "Walk" and " Don't Walk" you'll understand. They have dumbed down education so much these kids need pictures on the traffic signals so they know when to cross the street. Of coarse that may not work because they are texting so don't look at the traffic pictures. Computers are going the same way. In a few year you'll be able to operat a computer without being able to read or type. Just point to the picture. Good for MS. I get it. Not sure how good it is for me.

KB3081424 is a cumulative update, packaging together a group of smaller ones for ease of installation. For some users, the update continually fails to finish installing before issuing a reboot command to the PC. "It downloads, reboot to install. Gets to 30% and reboots. Gets to 59% and reboots. Gets to 59% again and then states something went wrong so uninstalling the update. Wait a few minutes and reboot. Back to login screen," said Microsoft forum user BrettDM.
