HRD - one for the books
« on: November 25, 2015, 07:58:40 PM »

So here is one for all of you.. It had two of us gong for 2 hours.
I have radio #1 which is a 590 with HRD, 9600 COM8 and unplugged the USB to plug the cable into
radio #2, another 590 set up exactly the same as the first one.
The computer did not detect radio #2 even though it was set up the exact same way as radio #1

In the end.. we set the HRD program for auto detect ports and HRD selected COM9!!!!

Everything worked after it auto selected COM9.

Removing the cable from radio # 2 and back into radio# 1 and it went back to COM8!
Back to radio 2 and it reverted back to COM9

Go figure... KG9H

A response to me from one of the local wizards...

1.  Windows creates new ports and it recognized the hardware in each 590.  If you take a third 590 I bet you would get com10 .   Once a port is assigned to a device it does not change.  In the case of the the 590 the "serial port" is actually the radio and each has it's own unique UUID.

I would bet that since the device type was the same that the port install happened so fast you could not see it.

If you go into the device manager it will show both devices.  I think you might be able to see down to the device identifier.
