Raspberry Pi for remote station control
« on: January 16, 2016, 03:07:14 AM »

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about using a Raspberry Pi 2 to remote control my Yaesu FT-857D, has anybody tried already, is it possible? Is there a project I can read? Any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Haven't done it, but you should be able to run rigctrld (part of the hamlib library) on the Pi. Programs like FLDIGI can control it if you have the IP address and port.

http://sourceforge.net/p/hamlib/wiki/Hamlib/

I did run rotctld (antenna rotator daemon) on the Pi once as an experiment with G-Predict (Linux satellite automation software) and it worked well.

Getting audio in and out of the pi to the rig might be a little more complicated.

Hi John,

I have HamLib installed on my Mac and I managed to connect locally with Grig, Flrig and other softwares, Audio in and out should be accomplished with an add on sound card:

or with a USB one:
