DX-pedition "Wish List"

My current DX-pedition "wish list" is:

VK9W - Willis Island
ZL9  - Auckland Campbell Island
KH7K - Kure (planned Sep/Oct of this year)
KH5K - Kingman Reef
HK0M - Malpelo (planned 2005 / 2006)
VP8/LU - South Sandwich
FO0    - Clipperton Island (I missed the fellow who just went there - was on vacation in Kauai - hi hi)

I started DX-ing in may 2001, so I missed these entities one way or another. They are not super rare, but since I haven't worked them, they are rare to me.

What is your DX-pedition wish list?

Nice topic!

For starters, I'd like to see someone guest operate on CW from SV/Athos.  Have only heard Monk Apolllo once on 10m SSB a few years back.  The transceive pileup was hopeless.

I'd like to see an expedition from Spratly with a signal we can hear in the Midwest.

Operations from Burundi, Glorioso, Tromelin, and Europa would be nice.

Finally, I'd like to either get a crack at working Scarborough Reef, or have ARRL admit its mistake and delete this most absurd of entities.

Until the cycle comes back up, I'd be happy with some in this hemisphere that I have a shot at working with a modest station:

Navassa (dream on)
Desecheo (keep dreaming)
Clipperton
Malpelo
Juan Fernandez
San Felix
Pitcairn
Ducie
All the VP8's

Some I'd like to see back for a shot at the low bands for me:
Aves (again)
Revilla Gigedo (again)
Cocos Island
St. Paul (this June)
Sable (August - will be away :-()

Night gathers and now my watch begins. It shall not end until I reach Top of the Honor Roll

Great times are at hand, and soon there will be DX for all—although more for some than for others.

In four years, ET can call home, finally!

But - it will be an expensive call!

Anyone want to "go along"?

Find out - if you can go:

Without question, it's Somalia! The only country I have worked but was unable to get a QSL Card for.  The Irish UN worker who was there in 94 seemed to just drop off of the face of the earth.  Either that, or the operation was not ligit!  Burundi is another.  I found out that the QSL card I have or that QSO was not ligit either.  Oh well. What can you do?

Anybody care about Namibia?  I may be going there next year and have contemplated taking some ham gear with me.  I am only a tech right now but am working on my code.  I would love to end up in a rare spot (although I'd guess Namibia isn't all that rare).  A total NEW ham with no clue leading a pileup.  Now that would be frustrating.

There is a fellow in Namibia who is on the air quite a bit - mostly on CW. He is Frank, V51AS and is a very good operator who "hears very well".. I also have received QSL's for all of our QSO's - so he is a good QSL-er in my book. For West Coast DX-ers, anything from the African Continent is considered a "good catch". Namibia isn't very rare, but I'll bet you will have pileups if you do go there and operate. Remember to check with the ARRL DXCC desk to find out what their requirements are as far as having your DX-pedition count for DXCC credit.

Good luck, and thanks for activating a nice DX location.

Oh - rare entities on the African continent (for me, since I don't have these) are:

J5 - Guinea-Bissau
5A - Libya
TL8 - Central African Republic
3C - Equatorial Guinea
9U5 - Burundi
9X5 - Rwanda
J28 - Djibouti
E3 - Eritrea

So let me knoe if you end up going to any of these (hi hi). So rare is relative.

My dream is to one day be able to put North Korea on the air.  Old Kim Jung may have other thoughts though.
