Raspberry Pi to remote control my station

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking about using a Raspberry Pi 2 to remote control my Yaesu FT-857D, has anybody tried already, is it possible? Is there a project I can read? Any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hamlib will run on the Pi. You may have to compile it yourself as Raspbian Stable likely lacks the latest release. Official source archives can be found at:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/hamlib/files/hamlib/
To help you get going, the manual and Wiki are at:
http://hamlib.sourceforge.net/manuals/hamlib.html
https://sourceforge.net/p/hamlib/wiki/Hamlib/
Hamlib has a network facility called rigctld that will accept connections on a TCP socket. In this manner you should be able to connect to the rigctld running on your Pi from another Hamlib enabled program on another computer your network. Note that it would not be a good idea to expose rigctld to the Internet except through SSH or similar secure connection.

it's a lot more advanced, but there are tutorials on how to control the PI's GPIO pins, which could be cobbled into a PTT interface as well:
https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/raspberry-gpio
Audio gets a lot more complicated, but it is possible:
http://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/raspberrypi
In my "copious" free time I want to develop some remote control devices for my IC-9100. Only a matter of time, and learning to write code, and having the ability to get it all done.

Thanks guys for your help, right now I'm running HamLib on my Mac and it's working. There is a tutorial to remote control an ICOM-7100 with Raspberry Pi:
