Heathkit HM-15 SWR Meter Question
« on: January 18, 2016, 10:34:29 AM »

This is probably a dumb question, but how does one set up the Heathkit HM-15 Reflected Power and SWR Meter to read SWR & Reflected Power?

The manual says to set the function switch to FWD, and adjust the sensitivity control to give a "full scale" (set) meter reading....That`s it....So the meter reads "full scale" all the time when transmitting...The instructions give no further indication as to how to get an actual SWR reading.

This is difficult to describe, but I`m sure a HM-15 owner will step forward with an explanation that will make me feel like I`m brain-dead.

You're half way there...
Then set the switch to "Rev" for "reverse" or reflected power and see what the meter reads.

I`ve done that, and it stays at the "set" mark...However, I just discovered my mistake.

The manual says to install it before the antenna tuner..In as much as my rig is a IC-756pro2 with a built-in tuner, that wasn`t done.

I just now disengaged the rig built-in tuner, and installed a manual tuner (after the HM-15) that I had laying around, and bingo. Solved.
