Looking for a ham originally from Clifton, NJ
« on: January 31, 2016, 11:32:23 AM »

I'm trying to locate or find out whatever became of the fellow who first introduced me to amateur radio many years ago when I lived in Clifton, NJ. It was around circa 1960, 62, 63 ?? +/- or thereabouts. I don't exactly remember the date. His name was Roger Kossick (sp?) but I don't know how to spell his last name correctly. He'd likely be listed in the call book from that era and would be in the 2nd call area listed with a first name 'Roger' along with a last name phonetically similar to my spelling (C or K) and an address in Clifton, NJ. Figured I'd ask here.
Thanx.

Roger Kosick - WA2UPS

He last appeared in my Summer 1968 Callbook and was not in the Winter 1968-69 Callbook.

I don't see any sign of him after doing a google search. Hope this helps a little.

Hey Mike, Thanks for your reply. Subsequent to my posting here I went onto Facebook and posted an inquiry on a group from our hometown and in short order I got a reply from a woman who's husband was best friends with this fellow. Unfortunately after he moved to Ohio he passed away in '95 at a much too early age.  It always seems like when we realize that we should re-connect with someone from the past whom we'd like to thank for doing just a little-something nice for us years ago we find that the hard realities of life make, quite often, make it too late for that. Looks like my search has come to a conclusion, not quite the outcome I'd hoped for. But none the less I found out what happened to him.

You're right, Ed.

HI Ed and Mike

This just happened to me...I tried to find an old Army buddy of mine...I knew him in 1976 through 1979...Great fellow, (Chip Morrsey). He passed away just before I called..

He loved his beer, and was always happy, He had a heart attack right at his favorite bar...and pass on...

Hi Tom. I'm sorry to hear that. To use a cliche, it sounds like he went doing what he liked best. Unfortunately, your  anticipation of a joyful reunion was quickly crushed.
