"Maritime" and "Parks / Museums" contests and "special events" ?
« on: February 03, 2016, 03:57:18 PM »

Can someone name some contests, or "special events" that give special status to either ships, museums, or National Parks ?

I know about the "Ship to Shore" event, that uses ship-based and museum-based stations to anchor it.

Thanks --

The National Parks on the Air event is sponsored by the ARRL in cooperation with the US National Parks Service. It runs all year and offers hundreds of parks, trails, and historic sites that you can work or activate. Have fun.

Have you checked the WA7BNM Contest Calendar at...

http://www.hornucopia.com/contestcal/index.html
There's a 12-Month, Perputal, Historical tabs to lookup the details of each event noted.

Here's the 12-Month link

Also, periodicly check eHam's "Special Event Stations" Forum for 1-Time events..

Marine Radio Day, when all the ex r/o's work each other, its a real hoot.

Silence periods are observed and Q codes fly thick and fast.

In the VHF/UHF contests with a boat you could go to grid squares with no or few land-based stations...everyone would want to work you for the grid multiplier.
