Apparently Fred doesn't have enough volunteer member moderators for continuous monitoring of his site to assist in locking controversial topics or posting rules violations and warn/ban frequent violators of same. Well run Forum based sites seldom have these problems.

I'd be willing to bet not having enough mods is related to Fred's overruling moderator actions when those actions are leveled against paying members.

Over the years, I've noticed different levels of moderation when it comes to paying versus non-paying members. I've been routinely amazed at what paying members have been able to get away with, while non-paying members seem to be punished for lesser violations.

Why would anyone take a moderator job on QRDead when your actions of trying to keep order (and actually being fair) are constantly countermanded because you dared to take action against a paying customer?

I can attest to this.

While a non-paying member, I was banned for linking to a site where soft profanity was used.  Linked to the same site, while a paying member, and the same mod who banned me before commented saying it was hilarious.

Maybe if you would actually get rid of the racists homophobic and flat out hateful people the RCC2 wouldn't of been a problem. oh I forgot they are the protected group cause they toss money at you and are unable to be banned.

These racist, homophobic, and hateful people are the same ones that you hear on the air every day, and the same ones that you meet at your local hamfest.  They are terribly easy to avoid.  On the air you turn the dial.  At a hamfest, you walk away.  On QRZ, you do the exact same thing....

And, on QRZ, they are indexed in Google for all eternity.  Not so much in the other venues.

It's ok.  I've got Google Site Tools.  I know how to flag sites for hate speech.

Like has been said, it’s Fred’s pool.  Sort of like a sign a friend’s parents had posted on their patio when I was a kid:  “We don’t swim in your toilet, so please don’t pee in our pool.”

I don’t post over there anymore because I saw way too much “moderation.”  To the point that animated exchanges resulted in warnings, and bannings for opinionated speech.  Way, way overdone.  Plus, who needs two classes of “moderators” anyway? (Moderator and Super Moderator) Two levels of “ego cheese” in the feeding trough, I guess.  At least one of them that I remember distinctly joined into thread discussions, expressed his own animated opinions, then clipped and warned or banned others.  I looked at the new thread, and lo and behold, there he was, posting away.

Some folks, I guess, like to be judge and jury.  By vocation and avocation.  (Or maybe, he couldn’t do it by vocation, so he’s chosen to attempt it in his avocation.)

Anyway, no hard feelings, Fred.  For the most part, your site is a tremendous resource to the amateur community.  Thanks for creating it and I hope that Google continues to send ad content your way.

73,

Lee

am i misreading this?  i took it to mean they created a mud pit for the subscribed dirt slingers to play in and they segregated it away from the serious forums so noone else had to get splattered with that crap?  kind of like saying to the miscreants & xenophobes: "here's a pool for you to feel free to express your real feelings in -- now go make a spectacle of yourselves there (instead of on the real forums)."

disclaimer: i dont frequent QRZ except to look up callsigns and maps of QTH's (which i do a lot) and this isn't a topic that is much fun to dive into -- so i may have misread ...

My objection to the new forum is that Fred stated political comments "in passing" (his wording) would be OK. However, no less than two threads have been started with solely political comments. I don't believe that is "in passing". I'm sorry I paid to post in that forum. Had I known beforehand, I don't know that I would've stepped up to the trough. The good news is, I paid only for 1 year.

It was never going to be "in passing" in the first place. Anyone who thought that was naive, at best.

Yet, you have no problem insulting others:

Can one post here on EHam forums without being a 'subsciber' ?

I note on most discussion forums i have visited that one can read the discussions but must be a subscriber to post.

Ham members post are critiqued or even criticized. I brought up the 7000 turkeys that burned to death in that Massachusetts, barn.  Fred, brought mentioned it in his reply on e-ham as being liked a frivolous/ nonsense post.  I'm not sure what/when the mods would find Un-acceptable?  I tried to  keep away from Sex/politics or religion what else is RCC?   Got a few PM's from mods about how I shouldn't post.   One in particular banned me for just asking a question.   Smoke screen to chase away ham members.
