That call belonged to my friend Richard Szabo, who lived in Oak Ridge, New Jersey.  I think it was around 1977-78 time frame.  I still have the page I printed out from his QEZ page.

That was the call assigned to the Lawrence High School Radio Club when I went there in the 60's.
Unless it was reassigned later.
It expired in 2000.

Sorry foe the late reply.  Just saw this post.

I do!   I went to Lawrence High and was president of the ham radio club in 1967, when I was a junior.   I learned a ton from Marv W2FGD, who sadly passed away a few years ago.  What a great op.

I've got a WB2EJZ QSL card on my wall in front of me.  It's the one with Marv operating a "suitcase rig" in Iceland (or was it Greenland?)

Shel,
I was in the club from 66-70 I vaguely remember you. Sadly Marv passed away. We all learned from him. Yes that was in Greenland he was stationed there.
I never thought anyone would respond here.
Were you on out DX pedition to Liberty Island WF2LIB
Take Care

Hello all:

I was in the club during High School 1973-1976....Unfortunately for me I didn't really get the bug until well after school in 1994.  My gift to Marv before I left school was buying a 40M dipole and placing it into service before I graduated.  I remember the Drake Rx & Tx rigs, the National Amplifier and numerous heathkit rigs that were in-service in the room off the way from the Theatre spot light room. 73, Artie n2xpm

Thank You Artie
I just wonder what happened to the stuff after Marv left.

I never knew there was more than one Lawrence High. My school was in Lawrenceville,NJ which is just north of Trenton. We also had a radio club, but it was a ten watt mono educational FM station, at 89.7.  The signal barely reached the end of Lawrence Township to the north. Don't know how far it went in other directions. Not far! The antenna was just on top of the school building.

Lew et al,

I don't usually look at eHam, so again, sorry for the very late reply.  I do better on email.

No, I wasn't on the DXpedition to Liberty island.  I suppose it was after my time. I graduated in 1968. Although I don't remember being too active in the club my senior year.  Girls...

The rig at the time in the 60's was a Hallicrafters HT-32 xmtr and SX-111 rcvr.  Plus a National NCL-2000 linear, and a VHF rig, which might have been a Clegg 2er or a Gonset something or other.   And a Mosley TA-33 or 36 on the roof (spent lots of time up there).  I doubt kids are allowed up there now.

My most memorable time was when Marv was operating on 20M USB and started a QSO with some DX station.  None of us kids could hear anything but QRN.  We thought Marv was making it up.  But then came the QSL in the mail some time later.   I learned from Marv to listen harder...much harder.

I was in touch with him by email about a year before he passed.   It had been ~35-40 years since we were in contact.

Shel,
I had the same rig Ht32, SX111. Heavy stuff.
Before I left Long Island in 74 I went and saw him in his house by the water. I remember his backyard was always flooded. .I guess better ground connection.
