How Long Did It Take YOU to get to DXCC Honor Roll
« Reply #15 on: March 26, 2008, 08:18:20 AM »

I made "Top of the Honor Roll" last August when I got all the cards in.

I have been working DX since 1969 when I got my novice license.  I made Honor Roll about 4 years ago.

I have 337 confirmed, whatever the top amount is including the new country, FJ.

The reason I have made it is two fold; one, I have been on the air since 1969 and two; good or bad I have been living at the same QTH since 1976 with a 40 foot tower, a 4 element monobander for 20 meters and a dualbander for 10 and 15 meters.

Most of the time I have run bearfoot as my neighbors are very close.

Close to HR on RTTY with 322 confirmed.

K0BX - hearty congrats - that is something to be very proud of, indeed. Especially running barefoot.

I started working DX about 10 years ago when I was relicensed after a long, long period with a lapsed license.  Also, I was basically QRT from mid 2002 to late 2006, so the total intense DXing period is about 6 years.  I am now in the mixed DXCC lists as 323/321, and have about 2 or three new ones for my next submission.   But getting the last few will require some DXpeditions to some places that are seldom activated, such as Navassa, North Korea, Glorioso (I had one from there, but it was DXCC rejected), and a few others.

My only two DXCC entities now on the deleted list are West Germany and Canal Zone, from my larval days of operation in the 1960s when I had 90 watts and a dipole.

I finally collected enough cards on 40 and 80 to qualify for 5 Band, have a DXCC on 17, and am very close on 12.

I find being on Logbook of the World is quite helpful.

Allowing for two sunspot zeniths seems reasonable.

Having countries that allow ham operation helps also.

For me, China allowing ham radio was a BIG deal, a new one!

WX stations used to be maned which helped get Qs from small outathe way islands.

W7ETA: two sunspot zeniths will most likely be what it will take me to get there. It is a really great program - in fact, its the number 1 "service" provided by the ARRL as far as I'm concerned.  In fact, its the only thing that has kept my interest in staying on the air this many consecutive years (7).
