$500 New Xiegu X5105 (Five Watt) HF + 6 Meters Due Early 2017

Currently, information about this new unit is rather sparse and from what I am reading here this is said to cost around $500 and available in sometime in early 2017. I assume it is supposed to be a competitor to the the KX2. Right now there are a few, very short 7 second videos on YouTube and hopefully soon a longer and more detailed video is coming soon. Search for Xiegu X5105 over at YouTube for the most up to date video.

My thoughts? It is too early to tell. I don't know if the final price will be $500 or more. How much more are the accessories going to be? More important is, what is the reliability? And are enough going to be available or will this be endlessly out of stock? If everything checks out, they will eventually need a U.S. distributor. How about it Vibroplex/TenTec ?

Anyway, you know as much as I do right now. One thing for certain, while earlier models of Xiengu radios got less than stellar reviews. Their current X108G model is highly rated right here on eham, with the X108G receiving a solid 4.8/5 out of 12 posted reviews.

I thought your readers might like to know about the new Xiegu X5105 [HF] transceiver which is being developed by the Wouxun group out of China (the same company who produces an inexpensive line of amateur HTs).

According to YaesuFT817.com, the X5105’s receiver is a double-conversion superheterodyne design and is made portable by way of 3 rechargeable lithium batteries of 1.8 mAh each. Native output of 5 watts.

I’ve read that the price will be around $500 US.

Based on  their previous 2 attempts, I would not put much consideration into their designs. They do not appear to know how an HF radio functions.

Probably.

By the way I probably wouldn't have mentioned this radio, except their last radio got very high reviews here on eham.

Neat video. How about a translation?
While you were there, you did not by any chance confirm whether the radio uses a 5000 or 3000 mah battery, did you? The manual says both. So which one is correct?
