I have abandoned the idea...  but the idea of set of three 572b tubes and a better power supply is interesting to me...

Or roll your own . Or re-purpose a lump of, or outboard behemoth, or ...

Just do the work . Even something as "simple" as a HVDC half wave, full wave bridge, full wave doubler and filters can have its pitfalls .
I'll suggest multiple taps so you can experiment with output voltage if the supply is inboard, and or some headroom and a variac if the supply is outboard .

I considered a microwave oven magnetron and a 4' dish as a drone-killer. The ERP would be on the order of a hundred thousand watts or so. ~anon
