Hello Everyone,

Our club (http://n1fd.org) has quite a few members who are interested in Space Communications and satellites. To get started, we built a simple portable satellite station for Field Day 2016. Our experience and interest in satellite operations has grown since then and we are building a new, more advanced, portable satellite station for use with a wider range of satellites. I have published the first in a series of articles about our portable satellite station project and I thought that folks here might be interested in reading the series. You can find Part 1 here -

https://stationproject.wordpress.com/2017/02/20/a-portable-satellite-station-part-i-simple-station-for-ao-85/

I should have the next article in the series published in a day or so. It will feature the antenna and tracking system we are using for our new portable station. Additional articles will cover the transceiver, supporting equipment, computer controls and operating experience.
