DARA could of charted buses for workers but was too cheap to do that and as I heard it many years ago this killed deal.

A world class show needs a world class venue and that certainly is not barnyard and the mud pits of Xenia. Columbus has over 3x population of Dayton and 20 or 30x that a Xenia. It has a better airport and connections, tons of motels and restaurants. The facilities is light years ahead of Xenia and HARA too.

DARA has been trying to put on big boy pants and act big yet picks a dump. They need to either do it right or resign from it. I for one would rather they resign because this year proved to me that DARA does not have a clue on how to do it proper and it only interested in doing it as cheap as possible. Time for another group in another town to take the reins.

Great, so it sounds like W8JX's own "world-class hamfest" at the Ohio Fairgrounds will feature chartered buses for all the workers.  Very generous of you, JX!  I can't wait to hear the rest of the details as you show us all how it's supposed to be done.

Another way to put it:  either show us the detailed plans for a superior event and execute them, or become involved in the organization and make a change happen, or relinquish a seat at the table.

Competition is good.  Maybe W8JX could crank up a ham convention near Columbus.  Same dates as Hamvention.  Then see who puts on the better show.  Tickets below $22 and free parking (no mud) are a must since hams are cheap.    Will need lots of friends to help organize and drive the scooters.   Shouldn't be a problem.

I'm pretty sure JX has done more to promote the Hamvention at Xenia than any other person on this forum.  He's complained so much that I wanted to go just to see how terrible it would be.  Turns out it sucked so bad I already plan to go next year as well.

Were you there?

Do you liive here? Did you see morning news with all the damaged grass and mud? Do you eally have a clue to aftermath?? I say no on all three. I was actually surprised at pictures/video on news. It was a mess

I doubt that you liive (sic) there either. eally (sic), I mean that!

Regardless, what about all your other dire predictions?  You know, the shortage of bathrooms, endless traffic jams, lack of vendors and the smell of manure?  You'd at least have a shred of credibility if you acknowledged you wrong on all of these.  But you won't will you?  That's OK, it just makes a clearer picture of your character, or lack of it, I should say.  Even sheep have more credibility than you.

Dare I say it?  Yup, you're BAAAAAAD. ;D

Let's start putting together a list for JX:

* Ohio Fairgrounds
* Chartered buses for all volunteers
* Ticket prices $5 or less
* Free on-site parking
* No porta-potties
* Internet lines installed for all vendors at cost
* Every building with AC at max

Man, JX, I have to admit, this sounds great!  I can't wait to see what else you have planned.  Be sure to let us know the dates and when we can preorder tickets!

Oh?  And what "other group" in "another town" would that be?  Do tell!

If "(an)other group" in "another town" was seriously interested in hosting a "world class" hamfest... wouldn't they already have done so?  Surely, if Columbus is as fabulous a destination as you claim, and a "world class" location to boot with the OH State Fairgrounds, said other group would already be sponsoring a hamfest there... logically speaking... right?

So why haven't they?

I didn't make it to the Dayton Hamvention this year. Though I have been multiple times. In the time frame before the Hamvention went to satellite parking at the Salem Mall, there was always a problem with vehicles being stuck some of the parking areas after hard rains. This was from 1995 through about 2001, I don't remember the exact years. Whenever there was heavy rain there were many stuck vehicles. So what is now?

Do not bank on it. They choose this place remember because they said it was best there was available.. (actually cheapest there was and you can see why now)

DARA would of been money ahead to rent a proper place at start after repair costs.

...please go away...

Which brings up the question:
Is JX trying to turn himself into an outcast from the amateur community, or is he already an outcast from DARA and the local amateur community and this is his way of lashing out?

I'd say the latter is already true, since it's already been speculated that DARA kicked him out, and he hasn't denied it, so now he's trying for the former so he can become a complete outcast.

There are those who look at an 8 oz glass containing 4 oz of beer, and say "The glass is half-full."

There are those who look at an 8 oz glass containing 4 oz of beer, and say "The glass is half-empty."

JX is in a third category: those who look at an 8oz glass containing 4oz of beer and say:

"animals once roamed & pooped in the fields the hops grew in (which were held in mud)"
"i smell port-a-potties!"
"where's the A/C -- I cant take this"
"a hard rain's gonna fall"
"noone came -- but there was WAY too much traffic"
"this beer should be in Dayton! ... or Columbus -- yeah Columbus!"
"baaaaa"
"who drinks this stuff?"
"they should have listened to me before they brewed this stuff"
"what, make my own beer?  hell no! those who can do, those who cant criticize.  i am a critic, and no i wont drink it -- i formed my opinion before the beer was even poured!"

W8JX, once again you are wrong on your facts. DARA isn't being made to pay for the entire repairs. We have offered to help with the damage. You know absolutely nothing about DARA or what we do and never will.

Real damage report...some grass needs fixing. Some ruts need to be leveled out. Some grass seed to quickly fill in between the surviving grass.

Big deal. Happens 2-3 times a year at my local fairgrounds. It is expected. It is planned for. Happens to events all over the world.

So what's the big deal? Anybody really think Greene County officials didn't expect it when they helped plan using grassy areas? If you do really think that, you have never run an outdoor event. It is the first thing on the drawing board...rain. OOPS...JX thinks he is the only person in the world that can plan an event, and complain how someone else spends their (not his; cause he does not support it anyway) money is all wrong.

Sorry John... your doom and gloom didn't materialize. And I was there. So you can't accuse me of not knowing because I am not there. I have been there. I have seen the truth. So have many others. And your just plain wrong.

Does not pay to engage the JX shuffle John. Your shuffle has been exposed as a bucket of lies and inaccuracies. But that's the problem with people that run portable generators in their garage. The fumes overwhelmed him and he had to took a few days off before he started his fresh rant. Too bad the rest didn't clear his head any...LOL
