EL2DX - Great Op!
« on: March 03, 2009, 10:21:10 PM »

I've worked Jim on 80M and 40M so far - and its nice to see such a good op on CW there. In the past, Liberia was considered a pretty good catch for us on the West Coast. Now the band fills are just rolling in. Fun DX during this unbelievably long sunspot minimum.

Thank goodness for the low bands. . . . heck - I'll take low band grey line DX-ing any time. But my sparkling new 4 element Bruce Array is just waiting for an all time new one.

Djibouti would be really exciting!

Jim is also a great QSLer.  Sent a card to his US address to confirm 80, 40 and 30 M QSOs and got a card in the mail very quickly.  Tnx, Jim de

I got him on both 40 & 80, and the card is already
in the mail.

Catching him on 80m CW made my day !

Yeah that was a good one for me too, 80CW.

I'm still hoping to get him on 160m but haven't snagged him yet.  I've heard him three or four times right near the noise, but I only have 100W and I think he runs high power, so it's been hopeless.

His bio mentions an AL-811H
so, yes he has at least 6-800 watts available.

Before Jim came back on the air this time as EL2DX, I only had one SSB QSO - on 15 meters - from 2002 (I think).

I'll be looking forward to 30, 20 and 17M, and the icing is that - yes - Jim is lightning fast in QSL-ing, and its all done using US postage.

Its hard to believe that he only has an inverted vee - but I do know one thing - he sure knows grey line propagation very well!
