Android and remote control
« on: July 09, 2017, 01:45:21 PM »

Are their any good radio remote control programs that run on Android devices?  It would be nice to run my HF rig remotely using my tablet, and I might just finally get a smart phone if I could do it with the phone.  I have seen something called Pocket RXTX but it seems kind of limited to the rigs it will work with.

I am currently using parallels access and my Android. Works great so far. I like being able to see the screen on the Flex 5000.
No other programs needed.

You just need a program that remote logs to the computer at your radio via the internet. I and a few others have used Splashtop on Android devices to mirror the computer at the radio.

How can one operate their radio from afar. Wouldn't you miss it?

I like being right there as that response comes into the headphones.

Have you tried websdr.org?  Its like the radio is on your desk, it can be near San Fransisco or in the Netherlands. The internet delay is as low as 10ms.

Imagine a 1000' peak a few miles from your QTH with a 75' tower and the radio 1/2 way up it. or a glenn martin tripod and beam on a gas station down the street from your old folks home.

Internet and power, its all you need.

Several years ago, I used GotomyPC client on my android to access my computer and radio at home.

Worked very nicely for everything but audio.
