Received signal strength vs Solar Flux Index
« on: July 21, 2017, 05:17:49 PM »

The correlation between SFI and ability to work DX is well known. I'm wondering if anybody has an approximate correlation between SFI and path loss or received signal strengths? Obviously we have to assume low K index, that we're in a sweet spot with regard to MUF, etc...

I can look at some extremes like SFI =very high and working DX from a mobile with 5 watts vs SFI =very low and bands are silent [but WSPR will still show some propagation!] but that's a little too little info to make a correlation between SFI and signal strength. Maybe somebody has been following the SFI and working DX and could toss out some anecdotal accounts of signal strength vs SFI?

The voacap.com page gives signal strength predictions.
