2 meter repeaters separation distance
« on: November 30, 2017, 12:19:48 PM »

Does anyone know what the minimum distance apart 2 repeaters on 2M and the same freq. have to be?  I don't remember what the coordination recommends.

Depends on HAAT.  There's not really a rule of thumb, per se.

OK, as I remember, ERP is generally governed by HAAT.  The terrain between these two repeaters is generally flat.  One repeater is at 220 AGL and the other one is at least that high.  Separation is about 100-120 miles.

If I am not mistaken, the Southeast Repeater Association (SERA) works with a 100 mile minimum separation.

You need to pose this question to your area repeater coordination group.
Several calculations are made/considered.

It all depends on your coordinator.

Some use a fixed distance for the entire region regardless
of HAAT.

Some use common sense
