22 meter activity
« on: December 20, 2017, 04:26:25 PM »

How much is present on the band these days besides the HiFER crowd? Any commercial SWBC stations still using the allocation?

I remember a time not too many years ago when it was fairly packed with broadcasters.

Won't be a whole lot during this sunspot null.  The usual US religious broadcasters and Chinese regional stations, but overall, not a heavily-used band at this time.

VOA still has English to Africa on 13590 and 13860 early evenings UTC, but the BBC doesn't use it for anything other than central Asian local languages.  Check for Radio New Zealand Int'l on 13730, 0500-0800 UTC.  Also China Radio Int'l and All India Radio.  Little else in English.

I haven't heard anything on the 21 meter band for a while aside from Cuba.

About 4-5 years ago, I was hearing the Middle East and sometimes South Asia. But since the dive in propagation, very little.

It costs a lot of money to run a SWBC station and it doesnt compute to blow it on dead bands.

Hit this link. Look for "List everything on the air in the..." and then clik on "22 meters" in the box to the right of that, then clik "NOW" and it'll show you every BC happening at that time.
