Using a Raspberry Pi as a P25 Trunking Scanner
« on: January 30, 2018, 09:37:54 AM »

Not sure if anyone is interested in this, but single (USB RTL) dongle and Raspberry Pi 3 makes a pretty good P25 trunking scanner.  I have mine on most of the time and audio is clear, clean and the operation is stable.  I'm using a Raspberry Pi 3 with Rasbian Stretch, OP25 and a NooElec NESDR Mini 2 SDR & DVB-T USB Stick (RTL2832 + R820T2) with the little cheap antenna that came with it and it has no problem picking up EMS, Fire, Polic, Sherriff and more from all cities and towns in Johnson County (Texas).

Interesting, can you provide any additional details?

What would it take to be able to record multiple talk groups at the same time, say for example if police and fire are both talking at the same time (on different talk groups of course)?
