“Distracted driving is a serious concern, so we hope all mobile operators exercise care when operating from a moving vehicle,” he said."

Dang right it's a serious concern. The only way to exercise care while the vehicle is in motion is to have a designated driver. Not only do ops have their mind on QSOs, tuning, and making adjustments to the radio, they are also logging. We already have enough distracted drivers on the road with motorists yacking on cell phones and texting.

Edit: Just read the ARRL page and it states...  self-propelled, land-based vehicle capable of movement before, after, or during the QSO... Before or after movement is the only safe way to operate a radio if the op is the lone occupant. To encourage anyone to operate a radio in motion as the driver is asinine.

I love operating mobile...............Ah, the good old days when you could easily work Europe while mobile on 12/10 meters.

I have about 323 confirmed ARRL DXCC list from the Chevy pickup. Of course who cares besides me ? Some are on LOTW, but all are card in hand.

Will there be a CW endorsement? While moving? ... Moving the CW key I mean... Ha!

BTW congrats to all you HF mobile types ... have had a company car for last 9 years and can't drill no holes, etc., ... maybe I should buy a old hippy van and work the DX from the beach...

It is funny you should mention CW and mobile in motion. I know some can send with bug/paddles. I tried but bouncing along I found the old straight key the most reliable for me. A knee key to boot ! Like on an aircraft.

323 DXCC entities from a mobile, that is very impressive. How many years ago did you start working mobile?

I had the HF rig in the pickup fall of 2010. I did not get really going on chasing DX mobile until nearly March 2011. So that 323 has really been since March 2011. I missed Orkneys there in that time frame. Didn't know they were QRV.
I missed 3d2c when I was away on a trip. Previous FT/J because it was mostly a RTTY effort. Which I don't have in the pickup. Does missing FT/X count as a miss ?

Some Russian op needs to get a YK license. I bet he could stay radio busy.

Do you have some excellent location near home where you usually park your truck and work DX from? A hilltop location or near water? 323 entities mobile in such short time is fantastic!

Does fresh water count ? Some times I am at Lake o the Pines 30 miles NE of me. No real hilltops to get on. They usually existing radio towers, and power lines. One limiting factor around here is the electrical noise. If not emanating from local power company distribution. Then it radiates from private oil field power lines. You have to hear them before you can work them. This vertical polarization sure does not help in that regard. I have found the "quiet" spots near me. Like 5-6 miles away. Still it is hard to find a "quiet" location for 40/80M. S3-5 for 40M, S5-7 for 80M is about my lowest reading. I have to be way out in the woods. A few miles from any power lines to get 80M just under S5. We are not talking the usual static crashes. Just the background power line noise. 80M has crashes here except for the dead of winter, two months.

If I manage to be on or near the Gulf coast. Which occasionally I am. I can see a real boost in radio signals. I do not have to be at waters edge, though it helps. Just in the general area of the flat land land and ocean water. 10-20 db boost on signals from east and south for sure. Over the pole even seems to get a boost.

Just like real estate. For best DXing. Have a good location and BIG antennas.

Come up here to Canada and you will see the opposite effect, you will loose 10 to 20 dB.  ;D

Do you know if there are others who have as many as 323 DXCC entities mobile like you?
