It would be rather stupid idea to raise a tower on 1/4 acre lot.
It's done all the time, and signed-off by licensed structural engineers.

Sometimes zoning ordinances mandate the tower height fall distance is within the property lines.  Sometimes not.  My 55' tower is about 20 feet from one of my property lines.  I'm more worried about one of my neighbors' trees falling into my yard than my tower falling into his.

This is until tower will fall and damage your neighbor's tree. Then he will sue you fo property destruction. I am not sure your homeowners insurance will be happy. That is why you always should get sign off from your lawer along with structural engineer.

Agreed.  In order for my tower to be covered under my homeowner policy as an accessory structure it has to be permitted, signed off by a PE and installed to manufacturer spec.  Check, check and check.

Sometimes not. Never assume one or the other. I did the one thing many hams don't do... I asked. I was required to supply a plot plan that shows no part of the structure will protrude over any property line at any time (I used Visio).

In regard to liability, it's also wise to ask. My insurance agent stated that it would be covered automatically if it complies with all zoning and permitting requirements.

. HOA free newly constructed homes do not exist in today's America.

Nonsense. This is the most ludicrous statement I’ve ever read here and there is certainly an abundance of competition for that distinction.

Why a few characters here make such erroneous and disingenuous claims is astonishing. And equally astonishing is that others who seem eager criticizing HOAs can’t abide by their underlying argument  of “mind your own business”. Must be some aberrant self-esteem issue.

I'm MAKING this my business, Pal. You keep losing pro HOA  arguments, only to reappear and repeat them again. Usually for the uninitiated..So I'm setting THE Record Straight. Again.

Before the subject gets magically "locked" by a Cry Baby "victim"...

It's NONSENSICAL to say that the HOAs aren't a problem, because we are misinformed. We are NOT "Misinformed". There isn't any "controversy" where "more research needs to take place" either. Keeping the ball rolling in your  favour kept the ball in play for a long time by the tobacco companies, for one shining "example."

But it's not working for you here one iota.

The OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of posts on eham about HOAs talks about them as a PROBLEM.
That's just "How it is," Pal.

Indeed, very few Happy Gushy Stories about HOAs behaving themselves to the point of Rainbows and Candy Canes can be found, ANYWHERE. As a matter of fact, yours is one of the FEW ones that comes out like that.

I recall how you concluded a previous  post that you have an antenna in a HOA Community, but that antennas are Ugly, and you can pretty much live anywhere you want. So YOU don't have to look at Ugly Antennas but get to have yours So There.

Your Post is here on eham for all to admire and chuckle at.
I called you out. Surely you remember , right?

You also called YOURSELF out recently by responding to a post that was not directed at you.
The subject was Pro HOA "Lurkers" And YOU saw fit to respond.  That speaks for itself. You DO remember this from just a few days ago, right?

HOAS ARE A PROBLEM.

That's all Fine and Good, but the FACT is that  Majority of issues with Hams and HOA's ARE, indeed NEGATIVE ones. This is FAR Over and Above my "Opinion" on HOA's.
That's how it is.

Apparently the answer to my last question is ‘yes’.

Looking deeper, ham's negative issues are not with HOA's per se, but with the CC&R's that the HOA's are there to enforce. Their beef is with antenna restrictions/prohibitions, just one of the regulations in the CC&R's. Basically, don't kill the messenger (HOA), blame the builders that inserted antenna restrictions into their CC&R's. Would we be talking about this if there were no antenna restrictions? IMO, I don't think so.

Millions of people live in HOA/CC&R communities without incident. Yes, there are bound to be some "rogue" HOA's out there that abuse their authority. And there are bound to be people that bitch about other CC&R's besides antenna restrictions because they didn't read them before they bought their property. They have no one to blame but themselves. But I believe they are in the great minority. These communities are not for everyone. We all have choices, and if you're not happy with the provisions, then buy elsewhere. And if you've never lived in one of these communities, how can you be qualified to state that they are overall a problem? Based on internet posts?

Again, I'm not here to argue the point...just presenting a different slant on the subject, based on my personal experience living in three such communities in the last 27 years.

W8LV, I'll give you another slant on this topic.  A friend of mine drives an 18 wheeler and he is pissed that the HOA will not let him park his tractor in his driveway on weekends.  Oh the horror of it all.
