I didn't bring a Wattmeter last trip.

Directional coupler on the tracking generator directly to the antenna is the best way to tell what's going on.  You can see if the antenna is going bad if it's windy and the trace has noisy spots in it.

I also didn't bring the directional coupler. I try to avoid hauling the shop out to the site. It's on my list for the next trip.

I try to avoid hauling the shop out to the site.

I try to do the same.  One time while fixing a voted system I had 2 service monitors (super heavy Cushman and HP 8920), 2 handheld radios, a TIMS, an oscilloscope, a bag of patch cables, a heavy toolbox, a Bird 43, a box fan, and a gallon of water.  I took a picture of the whole setup crammed in a hot 8x8 room with 3 6' racks.  Whenever the club would ask me to tweak it or fix it, I'd show the picture and ask, "Who's coming to help?"  After a dozen no-shows, I told them to stick it up their ass.  I just wanted help carrying the stuff up 2 flights of stairs to the roof.

I understand. Back in the 80's I was trustee for a club whose repeater was on a platform at 1200 AGL. The first 100' was stairs and then get in an elevator for a 12 min ride. I showed a few pictures of the view from up there and never was at a loss for helpers. The optical horizon was abt 50 mi IIRC. Watching a guy that had never been there was fun. Some of them it took 15 min to get off the elevator. I called it a fry basket, it was made of expanded metal abt 4'x4' inside and 8' tall. You got to enjoy the view all the way up to the expanded metal platform.

I've been in one of those in Miami.  It was really cool to sit on the expanded metal floor and feel the tower sway in the wind.

When I worked on repeaters on top of Stone Mountain, everyone jumped at the chance to help.  Free cable car ride and an awesome view.

However, a hot elevator equipment room with no windows on top of a 19 story building didn't appeal to anybody.
